Like every year, snow’s arrived and it’s ski-time. This sport, once considered a luxury for few people, has now become one of the greatest winter hobbies, thanks also to cost reduction and to the various specialities that characterise it, from downhill skiing, to cross-country and alpine skiing. But in order to obviate the problem of the difficult and, particularly, expensive climbs, Vittorio Giabbani has invented a simple ingenious device that could improve this sport on its whole, by making climbs with skis much more accessible and effortless. It consists of two simple aluminium shovels or other suitable kind, linked to a holding spring that facilitates their return in the resting position: in practice, by pushing the ski forwards, the shovel takes a resting position, letting the ski slide freely; then, when the ski is pull backwards the shovel, with the aid of the holding spring, turns of 45 degrees digging firmly down into the snow and preventing the ski from sliding backwards, so offering the skier an extraordinary resting point. This futuristic device is very simple to be fitted and used, very light in weight and absolutely not dangerous. In order to make it a hundred per cent efficient, it must be attached under the frontal part of each ski. Then, in order to be able to climb any slope, it’s sufficient to have a kind of binding that allows the skier to raise its boot from the ski, by means of a raising rod, which can easily rotate round its axis according to the degree of the slope, with no need of bending down, but just with the help of the pole. The skier who climbed a slope with the help of these special shovels, can later go normally downhill, after having removed the shovels just with the aid of the pole, turning them above the ski or detaching and keeping them in his/her pocket. Once at the bottom of the hill, it will take him/her just a moment to fit the shovels on and climb again the slope on either fresh, frozen or swept snow, without queuing for ski-lifts. In summary, it’s a simple but efficient object, which can make all snow lovers happy.
